Whatis this tractor? It is on full steel, has 2 blocks on the Waukesha engine. There is a word in an arc on the sheet metal that I can't read. Under the arc is written "GoTractor". I would appreciate any information.

Thanks!

From "Enclyclopedia of American Farm Tractors", by CH Wendel (ISBN #0-912612-15-0)....

General Ordinance Company, with it's executive offices in NYC, took over the Denning Tractor Company at Cedar Rapids, Iowa when it went bankrupt. For a short time, General Ordinance christened the old Denning tractor the "National", but in 1920, the "G-O" emerged. Two models were offered that year - a 14-28 and a 12-22. Both were of the same general design. The 12-22 carried a 4-1/4 X 5-3/4 inch four cylinder engine, weighed 4200 pounds, and sold for $1375. The 14-28 used a four-cylinder Waukesha engine with 4-1/2 X 5-3/4 inch bore and stroke - it weighed 4300 pounds and sold for $1485. In spite of General Ordinance Company's strong financial position, they too fell victim to failure by the early 1920's.

The General Ordinance Company of New York, New York had a model G 14-27 tractor made from 1920 to 1921. It had a Waukesha engine. You can find information on page 277 of Farm Tractors 1916 - 1925. Wish I could afford a rare bird like yours.

Book is called I & T Collectors Series FARM TRACTORS 1916-1925. The second book goes from 1926 to 1956. No real author is listed. Editor is Randy Stephens. It was compiled from pages of Cooperative Tractor Catalog. Can`t remember where I bought it.
