I saw a picture of this 8-wheeled tractor on a link on prairielinks.com. Can't seem to find any more info on the machine. Was it a production model or someone's creation? Any info would be appreciated.

Big Roy was one of a kind built by Versatile
Manufacturing. I have seen it close up and it was
impressive. 8 wheel drive, air suspension, 600hp
V12 Cummins. When I asked the company rep about
fuel consumption he said they had never been able
to load it enough to know how much fuel it would
burn per hour.

You are looking for "Big Roy". It is on display at the Manitoba Agricultural Museum in Austin, Manitoba. I think the phone number is or was (204-637-2211).
Built by Versatile in 1977, the name came from the biggest share holder in Versatile. Roy Johnson. 28 ton, 600 HP, 8 WD, powered by Cummings KTA 1150-600 diseal in its rear section & with a close circuit camera TV on back.

I know a farm who had one, it could pull 120 foot cultivator at 6.5 mph, and a 20 bottom plow up to 12 inches deep with no problem. He would pull a 10 & a 12 bottom plow. And 2 - 60 foot cultivators.

Thanks for the info. I didn't figure it was a production model. Strange looking with the rear engine. I'm not surprised they had trouble loading it up. No doubt would burn a LOT of fuel, but would also get a lot of work done in an hour. Interesting! Thanks for your response.
