I just purchased a Deutz D4006, in good shape with only 3090 hrs (and tach still works)!!! Lots of power for the size of the tractor, and uses very little fuel.

It has a Serial Number 7877/9028, and other numbers on the plate are SFE 232 6877 and A-1003-00. Can anyone give me any information as to the year model of this tractor? I have ordered some manuals, but I doubt they will have that information and I cannot find it anywhere else.

My real question deals with the fact that the 3 pt. lift seems to have an internal leak. The lift is very strong, but under a load, it will slowly drop, then the hydraulics will quickly lift back up to its position, almost to the point that it will bounce the front end off the ground with a heavy bushog behind it. It does not change much with the weight of the load, it is just more noticeable with something heavy on it.

How hard are the hydraulics on this model of tractor to work on? Is this something that an "untrained" shadetree mechanic can repair? Or is this something that I should take to someone who is experienced in working on tractor hydraulics?

Also, left real wheel seal is leaking. How hard is this seal to replace? How hard will the brake drum be to remove? Will I have to pull the axle out to replace the seal?

I also need brake shoes. Can I buy new ones, or will I be better off having my old ones relined?

Any advice that can be offered will be greatly appreciated.
