I bought a 3 wheel tractor recently that I'm told is an Intercontinental CF26. It has an L-head 4cyl.continental engine. Needs a lot of work. I plan to try & restore it & would appreciate any info or links to it.

Thanks

The Nov/Dec 2006 ANTIQUE POWER magazine has a LAUGHLIN C-27 on the cover. The article inside mentions the INTERCONTINENTAL C-26. Can anyone tell me the connection between these tractors and Marshall, TX? I live near Marshall.

Engine parts should be available. Continental engines were used in everything: Tractors, cars, trucks, compressors, welders, generators, boats and whatever I failed to mention. They’re still a lot of them engines around. A good parts man (likely an older generation gentleman) should be able to find and order the new parts you may require. I apologize I can’t offer more help. It has been awhile.

More info (from Texas) if that"s a Texas unit (the pix I saw were of dual front wheels, not a single front wheel):
Gasenginemagazine.com: search Intercontinental C-26, a nice article should come up.
Google advanced search (exact words): Southern Aircraft Company. Four or five hits down will be "coachbuilt.com"...click on it and a nice piece, giving history of Intercontinental Co (out of Southern Aircraft Company) should come up.
But no parts help...Good luck.

If that's the Intercontinental Mfg Co of Garland or Marshall, Texas, that engine is probably a Cont F162, a very popular engine of the time. Specs, etc will be in any Motor Trk/Tractor manual covering late 40's (in the engines section under F4162 and in the Massey-Harris section under F162).
Intercontinental of Texas had a C-26 model,46 or so to 56 or so per the tractor books; no CF was listed but the listings weren't intended to be complete (there was a diesel DF). No ideas as to parts, etc. Seems to've been some name changes or mergers; might--repeat,might--have been marketed as Sollberger, Laughlin, Nateco or Nateco-Laughlin. Good luck.
