how do you check the hydraulic pressure on a 610 long? The lift wont work and I need to know if the pump is the "bad guy" or the cylinder on the lift itself. Any help is appreicated. Thanks, davids

I was reading your post and am working on a Long 360 with the same issue. Have changed oil, cleaned filter, adjusted respinse lever all to no avail. Was wondering if you had managed to fix your problem and exactly what you did?

Its may be air in the system.Plug a fitting open ended into one of the remote outlets and hold the remote lever down for that side and when the oil squirts out more than likely your lift will start to work

well,I found the o-ring and backing ring on the piston were cut and I thought I'd found it. Replaced them, checked the relief valves and found nothing wrong with them. Changed the filter/screen and all o-rings on the suction side as well as both o-rings on the pressure side. Checked the pump and didn't find any scoring at all. After changing the screen, I had to blow air into the dip stick hole to get it to prime. will lift the hay forks but thats all. Same ole same ole.Has the pump gone south? Any help is appreicated. Thanks, davids

Neighbor has a guage in a male tip for rear remote. Just plug it in the remote and pull the lever.

Don't know about the 610 but I have a 2610 (pretty much the same tractor) and it runs about 2,200 psi.

Sounds like a relief valves is stuck for the lift. That's been a common problem. Although I've never had that problem with mine. If there's moisture in the hyd. oil and the tractor doesn't get used often the relief will stick.

I had a simular problem with an add on Fasse valve. It would stick over winter. I'd break it loose in the spring. Switched over to Amsoil Hyd. trans oil and have had no more problem with that valve. Until the oil switch it was an annual problem. It pays to use a good hyd. oil. Some will work better than others if moisture is present and most tractor have some moisture problems in the hyd., just from humidity here in the south.

Do a search on this site for Long hydraulic problems and I am sure you will find some suggestions. Rule out the basics first. Clean the hyd. filter located in the line below the starter. Make sure you have an ample supply of clean hyd. oil. The dipstick is on top of the transmission. Check oil flow at the oval shaped plug where hyd. line is attached to the lift. The responsiveness lever may need to be adjusted. It is located on the right side of the lift near the front. I can't tell you how to check the pressure or what it is supposed to be. I have used Longs for about 30 years and have had some hyd. problems along the way. Good luck!
