older sears roebuck mower

My freind and I have an older Sears Roebuck lawn tractor with a 3-point hitch on the back of it. Right now it is not running nor will it stay running when it does want to start. I wrote down all the information on the mower that I could find. The model number is 917 8371, The electricle box is a Fairbank Morse Type FM-XD1B75 Serial number- 4364090 if any of yall could possible help or know anyone near the oconee-pickens area in South Carolina that has parts or may help then it would be greatly appreciated

we"ve tried mostly everything. We"re thinking that the points are bad and if they are how hard would it be to find parts for an older tractor like this? If you have any info your help would be greatly appreciated

That's a Fairbanks-Banks magneto, the points probably need to be cleaned with some 320 wet or dry. Then see if there's fire at the sparkplug.
