Can anyone help on parts cross reference between UTB 445 and a Fiat tractor model. I have a retail tractor parts shop in Macedonia, and when I wish to buy parts from Turkey they only have listed FIAT tractors parts and OEM numbers. I know the engine should be same with FIAT 450 (95mm piston)but someone mentioned that the diferential and other parts are different. Does anyone have an advice? Thanks.

I wish to replace the heater plugs which I am told were part of an upgrade kit.

Does anyone know what part numbers they are and where I could buy them.

Hi Eamon,

I'm from West Wales & also have a 445DT. As far as I am aware, they were all fitted with a "Thermostart" rather than heater plugs. This is the same as fitted to David Brown & some Fords of the same era (mine is 1976).

It is a small heater coil with a diesel reservoir about the size of a 35mm film case screwed to the inlet manifold. The reservoir fills from the leak-off pipes & when the coil gets current it heats up to red hot, opens a valve which drops the diesel down onto the coil & heats up the manifold. If you feel the manifold after powering the Thermostart, it'll feel hot. Then it should start OK. Ther should be a position on the start switch that energises the Thermostart before the starter engages. Check that this actually happens - I've put a warning light on mine so I know its heating. I use about 60 seconds of heat if its down below freezing & it starts within 5 seconds of turning.
I checked my Thermostart & it was OK, once I'd fixed the terminal back on!,but I got a spare from Ebay - about £10 & they were widely available, but you may have to change the terminal type for the electrical connection - spade or screw.

Romanian tractor is correct. I have the 610 DTC Long . Gauges show Romanian on each one. Mine is 1985. Long sold out in 1998 to Farmtrac. Understand they change the name to their own on them.

They were sold as Long 445 & Allis Chalmers 5040 in the USA so you may have better luck asking for those?
I'm in UK & have an UTB 445DT - thats the 4WD model

It seems to me to be a Romanian tractor you may try www.utb.ro if that is the case.
