Hi all,
Could any one help me identify a tractor I'm looking at buying ?
It is a Nuffield. The badge on the front says Nuffield Universal. The badge on the side says Nuffield 342. The engine number on the tractor says 26T/1153/D16100.
The documents which the owner claims is of this tractor says a different story.
The documents say it was made in 1958.
It shows an engine number of 25T BD 3347 and chassis number 771 3225.
The owner tells me the engine block may have been changed at some point.
I have read that the 342 was first produced in 1961 so I reckon the documents don't belong to this tractor.
We could not locate the chassis number on the tractor to compare it with the documents.
Can any one tell me where on the tractor, the chassis/frame number is located ?

Hi guys,
Today I went to the workshop where my tractor is being repaired and I searched for the chassis number with your advice on where to look.
I found it !!!
Good news for me... the chassis number starts with 3DL and it is the same number as in the documents !!! I was previously mislead by the wrong bonnet side badge which said it is a 342.

Is a 3DL the same thing as a universal three ?
Does any one have photos of a good 3DL ? I specially want a photo of the gauge and switch panel.

Some one said if it is a 1958 (as per my documents) the chassis number should start with 3DM... mine starts with 3DL... whats wrong here ?

if the chassis number on the documents is correct, that should make it a 1958/9 Universal three, the chassis number should be both stamped into a brass plate and into the right hand side chassis rail just rearward of the front of the motor. The badge on the front of the tractor for a 3/42 model should say Nuffield Tractor, not nuffield universal, and likewise the side badges on a Universal threesay that. hope that helps, oj

there is an little badge with a glass plate on the left side of the dash just in front off the trottle about 4 inch around another place is on the rigt on the frame just under the fuelinjectorpump if its an 58 it says nuffield 3 dm hopeful this helps you
