Hello owners of the above Garden Tractors. If you currently own one of these tractors you allready know how limited the amount of information available to us is ! What I would like to do is gather and publish Information on these rare and great garden tractors so those lucky enough to own one can get the information they need to keep them going and preserve the history. For example did you know that the clutches for these tractors were made by Twin Disc Corperation and are still available ? What I really would like to see is if you have any copies of articles, advertizements, manuals, or any other info it would be great to make up an information packet to send out to fellow owners. If You have any information on Frazer Tractors, Jaques Mighty Mite Tractors manufactured by Dennison farm equiptment, or Ottowa Farm Tractors please contact me with what you have for info or mail it to Jeff Barlow, 470 Cape road, Standish Me. 04084, and I will try to assemble an information packet to forward to those interested. Who knows maybe it will turn into a newsletter or we can get together at some reigonal Tractor Shows. These really are neet little work horses are'nt They !!!!

Well Jeff My name is Marion Thompson I live in Illinois.
I own 2 Jaques (Jakes) Frazer garden tractor's.
Both of my tractors have bin compleatly restored.
Tractor # 1 was bought in 1972 with a two bottom plow. The second 1 was bought in 2003 with a snow blade and single bottom plow. I have some information that may help with your quest.
My oldest tractor is #2. Engine seriol #T E 999
Tractor frame # 994. I beleave this tractor to be 1 of posably 10 prototypes bilt in 1948.I beleave the prototypes started with #990 to #999.
The production models wood have started with 1001.
My #1 tractor engine seriol # T E 1271. Frame # M T 371. The frames may have started with #101. I have no proof to varify any of this exsept my own seriol numbers.
Check your transmitions they have casting dates on the left side just below the shifting lever cover plate. My prototype tractor reads 2-23-48. The production tractor reads 4-18-48. This will give you the earleast posible date for your tractor.
I do not have a exact time line for thes tractors but have bin told that the jaques frazer tractor were only prodused 1 year 1948. Only 1500 were producede. I do not know when Jakes Mighty Mite started production. But somtime in mid 1950 Ottawa started and finished around 1952 when Crosely bought them out and made some prototypes that never went into production. That is the end of the time line so fare. I am ready to be corected on any and all of this at any time. EM mdthompson19@yahoo.com

I can supply the tine holder spring for the Frazer rototiller but not the pointed tine. I rescued the tooling for the pointed tine and delivered it to Frazer in Auburn. Last I knew they were out of them as well.

I have what I think is a l948 Frazer that I found in a field in 1972 and restored. It has a rototiller mounted via pto, and several other implements. One cylinder two cycle, and in need of a new clutch, which I would appreciate information on acquiring. I have a manual, and could send a picture if that would help your collection of information. I have not operated it for 25 years.

Hello; The clutch is manufactured by Twin Disc in Racine Wisconsin. It should be a model V1045, the common wear parts are part # 3657-a driving ring and 5897-a driving plate, send your E mail address and I will forward a picture. Thanks. Jeff

I too am a collector of the small, but mighty, garden tractors. I currently own a Mighty Mite, a Shaw Duall, a Livey, an Allis G, a David bradley Tritrac, and a Farmall Cub. I am currently looking to acquire a Bolens Ride master. I recently did some research of my own into the Jaques Mighty Mites and have come up with about a dozen total Jaques where I know where they reside. I would be happy to send you the names and addresses as these individuals would also like more information. I have yet to discover a bank of information, but would like to get any of the info you are currently trying to collect. I am currently doing a ground up restoration on my Jaques and have found all of the parts to be locally available. I would like more information on the Clutch as I haven't tackled that yet. Some other info I know includes: The transmission is a Borg Warner T-96 (same as in a Willey's Jeep). The original engines that I am aware of is a Briggs & Stratton Model Z (with the spark plug on the side). As far as color goes, I found some spots on the underside of my tractor that had been covered in grease for probably the better part of the last 50 years and the closest color I could come to was an IHC truck color called Flame Red. After I have 1/2 my tractor painted with this Flame red, it sure looks a little too orange to me, but was the closest I could come to the color I had on my tractor.

Would like more info, so stay in touch and thanks.

David

Sounds to me like 1670 may be the serial number, not the model number, My mighty mite still had the original id tags and clutch adjust plate on it and all original paint. most of the Mighty mites were model 10s, mine was all red, (a color close to International red ) except the end of the steering column and the end of the lift arm were painted black. the engine was the same color except for the air cleaner and its support. Dont have any info with color photos.

My tractor still has the original tags on it also. You were right 1670 is the serial number but in the model box it says MM. I would like to know around what years these tractors were made. I am planning on taking mine to an antique tractor show at the end of this month, if i find out anything new I will let you know. Thanks. Dean

These tractors were first produced in 1947 and probably were made into the mid 50s, i have a copy of a 1947 add that says the sensational new Mighty mite. they were $695.00 dollars fob from the factory in Dennison Texas. I know there is someone out there that has or knows the whole story on these tractors, there is some history of them in the Sept/Oct 1994 issue of Antique Power, availably as a back issue.. The part of the story I really dont understand is the Ottowa connection, the only visible difference seems to be the shape of the hood cowling. there is a picture of an Ottowa on page 57 of Ageless Iron, tractors that live on; special edition, Good luck at your tractor show.

I agree there should be an area where we can communicate on the small tractors. I have an Ottawa Mule Train, Jaques Fraizer Mity Mite, 4 Shaw Du-Alls R6,R8,R12T, & unknown still in original box from the final run in the Shaw Mfg. Plant in Galesburg, KS. I also have a Gibson and a Livy. These are all small tractors and I for one have a huge interest in them. My wife is a journalist and photographer and in our many travels to these shows we have seen and photographed a lot about these little tractors. She would like to write a book about them. We just got back from the Shaw annual show in Galesburg, KS this weekend. Gales gurgh is looking at hosting a National show soon. This could be a good place to start to get together, if not contact the Chamber of commerce in Ottawa, KS, and find out when their annual show is. This is the town where the little Mule Trains were Manufactured.

If you need any help contact me at Rouge2121@AOL.com and we will see what me and my wife can dig up.

D.W.
