It has Jeep running gear (4 wheel drive, 3 speed with a Continental 4 cyl engine) with a sickle bar mower mounted underneath on the right side. The steering wheel is in the center and it has only a single seat. There are two tanks side by side behind the seat (gas and hydralic oil). The body is narrower than a Jeep and only extends to the frame on each side. Possibly a "Universal" brand?? Mfg out west?? Looking for info and pics. Thanks for any help. JD

Could be a "Roof" brand tractor. Check the antique lawn and garden tractor board. >Link

Within>Link the last month or so, someone was talking about this tractor.

Sounds like an "Empire" tractor. They were built primarily from surplus Jeep parts. Try searching the web for a picture of an Empire tractor.

Tom, thanks for the Empire tip and I did find some pics of them, but it is not what I have. Mine looks like a Jeep up to the top of the frame (no large rear wheels). I am working on some pics to help with identification. JD
