Can anyone provide information on a 1952(I think)
"Custom" (that's the brand name)Model "B" tractor,
with a Chrysler 6 Cyl engine. I was told the
same or very similar tractor was sold by Wards.
I was also told that a similar tractor was sold
under the name "Jumbo". The "Custom" was made in Shelbyville Indiana, I think. Any info or
help will be appreciated. Value? Rarity? Interest level? Anything?

The Custom tractors were made initially in Indiana starting in about 1947. The company changed hands several times and finally went out of business in about 1955.
The tractors were sold under several different names
to include Wards, Lehr, Rockol and probably the Simpson
Jumbo. There were several models, all using
Chrysler 6 cylinder flat head engines, ranging
in size from the 217 cu in engine up to the 251
cu in engine with dual exhaust. Transmissions were New Process and rears were Timkin --essentially truck parts. Records on production numbers are non-existant, due to sales, fires, etc.
Hope this helps. I own a Custom Model 98, which was their last model made. It has the 251 engine and the Chrysler fluid drive. I think they are neat
tractors, but then , I am a Mopar fan. Where are you
located and is the B for sale??? rjs

I do not think my last e-mail was sent
properly, I don't know where it went, it may show up later. Drop me an e-mail and we can talk about the Model B. bentorbroke (gadtractor@smithville.net)
