i also have a sears tractor 220-26 #1364. i have been told this was a 1929 model. the man that gave it to me claimed it is a 29 model and he has the paper work to prove it. so far he has not been able to find it. i have the tractor all restored and covered up in the back yd. the gent that said they were built in 38-39 may have been refering to the handyman built in 38-39

Wally,
Your tractor- model number 220-26, s/n number 1364
is a 1939 Sears Economy tractor made in Peru, IL
by Peru Wheel company. There were 500 of these
tractors made in 1938 and 1939. Peru Wheel was
contacted by Sears in 1937 to make a tractor that was affordable, a rebuilt Model A engine was selected for the power, most of the castings were made at the Peru Wheel plant. You can see these
tractors in the Sears-Roebuck 1938 Fall and 1939
Spring Catalogs. $495 would buy one. Also there
was a book written about the company and tractors
called the "Peru Plow Works- Ninety Years of Farm
Machinery in Peru, IL, by Chad Elmore.

Hi Jason
SE tractors were made in Peru Illinois from 1938 and 1939. I would be interested in hearing what shape yours is in. I know where several parts tractors are and parts are most likely available.
Gary
