The Beetle Tractor is a 2,000 lb crawler manufactured by Western Gear Works, Seattle, WA between 1944 and 1948. Probably 90 machines were produced (still digging), they were the precursor to the Clarkair Tractor of WWII (both machines were designed by T.P. Flynn of the US Forest Service). 4 cylinder Waukesha engine (ICK series) , 3 spd transmission with seperate forward/reverse dual clutch system, and hydaulic dozer blade. Contact from ANYONE with ANY additional information would be appreciated.

Cheers! I have a complete "laurentide" beetle tractor. It seems to be identicle to the western gear crawler but this ones Canadian (if I remember right). Whoever owned it before me completely wore out the poor thing. The engine on this one is a Hercules and that is where we are currently stuck. The engine is unrepairable. I know where another one is in town, but the old buggar would rather keep it as a lawn ornament...

I"m holding what amounts to a small Hercules engine which was in process of rebuild before calamity struck. I believe there is good block, all castings and new pistons and rings to fit. Also an entire gasket set.If your machine is otherwise good by tracks and tranny we may investigate this further to see if this particular engine is right and finally speak to the owner about a price.
