No it's not a ghost tractor. We have one, too.
It's a small garden tractor painted red. It has a
pull-chord start, a mower deck and needs a clutch. Otherwise its in decent working condition. Wish we could find a way to find parts!

Paul: never heard of them other than Ford Station wagons. Could it be that you might be thinking of County tractors? 4 Wheel drive Ford conversions from England, usually all wheels the same size? Tom

I also have a Country Squire tractor. They were manufactured by Engineering Products Company, Inc. The same company that made Economy and Power King tractors. Mine has a 9-horsepower Wisconsin engine. Manual pull start (has the electric starter but needs a battery). Usually starts very easily. Also I have the original manufacturer single-bottom moldboard plow that was available as an accessory (as was a variety of ground working implements such as disks, cultivators, harrows, etc.) For that you need either the manual spring-assisted implement lift hitch, or the optional (and harder to find) add-on hydraulic implement lift unit. My tractor has the manual implement lift which works quite well. Also: if yours has the 3-forward speed geared transmission: it is common for these to lock in gear. Most often caused by worn out shims/bushings/detents inside the transmission. Just got mine overhauled for $75.00 which I found since was quite reasonable in comparison to what a rebuilt original equipment tranny cost (over $500.00). Anyhow they are a fun and useful tractor to have. Also they are small/light enought to fit onto a 4 x 8' utility trailer so you can take it to tractor shows without having to invest in a larger trailer/haul rig!

Can you help?
My COuntry Squire 9hp was a factory re-build just two years ago and now it seems to have a real loss of hp. Starts fine, sounds good but luggs under load. Any suggestions as to what I should check?
