I found a old, (probably 1930's )6 cylinder gas road roller today. Been sitting in the woods for years. Its pretty complete only missing the the radiator from what I can see. Would like some information on these if anyone can help. I am thinking of getting it and am wondering what a good price would be. Also weight if anyone could ID it.
Thanks,John

I AM LOOKING TO BUY or a trade for a"Buffalo Springfield" sign/nameplate off one of the rollers. Must be some out there since these rollers are mostly now in scrap heap.
These nameplates were the big ones on the back of the machine. Most were bolted on.

Your road roller was manufactured by the Buffalo-Springfield Roller Co. of Springfield, Ohio. The Buffalo Roller Co. of Buffalo, NY and the Kelly-Springfield Roller Co. of Springfield merged around 1928, if memory serves. They continued in business under the Buffalo-Springfield name at least into the '60s, when they were bought out. The Clark County Historical Society (Springfield, Ohio) owns some Buffalo-Springfield items, including a similar roller. I may be able to help you through them. What do you need?
Please include my name (i.e. Dear Mike) when you e-Mail me, as the hii.erinet.com account has several users.

I have come across a Buffalo Springfield roller and am trying to identify it. The only ID on it is the Buffalo Springfield plates on each side. Does anyone know where to look for a serial no plate or model#? It has a flathead 4cyl, but this is all I know. It weighs about 8-9 tons. Any info would be appreciated.

I have been trying to find out more about Buffalo Springfield road rollers. I was on vacation in Michigan's
western western U.P. at a campground called Runkle
Lake near Crystal Falls. In the campground they have a 1927
Buffalo Springs roller in beautiful shape. The
engine in it is a four cylinder Wakashaw motor made
in Wahashaw Wisconsin. I am an artist and was doing a sketch of the tractor when a lady walked up and told me
that her father donated it to the park a few years ago. She said that he drove it there. It hasn't run
since then but he keeps the cylinders oiled and
they believe it could be started without to much work. It is there for the kids to play on. I plan on doing
a shirt design with this drawing on it. I am wondering if the Buffalo Springfield rock group stole their name
from this company? Good luck on your project. Al Holden prostock@net-link.net
