I printed this on tales, and found another 1 of these actually exists. So I thought I'd post here too. Anyone recognize this?
I took some pics of my mower that I use routinly (up until the belt broke) to cut the front yard.
This thing was made in the 50's and I remember my dad's neighbor using it when I was around 6 or 7.
He bought it used from a commercial outfit.
It's a Devere, 30" cut, single blade, 9HP Wisconsin engine that starts on the 1st or 2nd pull reliably.
Do ya like OSHA would have a problem with this today?

Thanks Larry. I've never seen any others, besides mine. Where have you seen them? Are people still using them?

I haven't seen one being used in a long time. They seemed to be popular with industrial users in the 60's. My highschool had one. My father was able to get parts, belts etc, from a mower place until the engine broke in 74. The engine cylinder was badly worn and he decided to buy a new mower. Most of these that I saw where red in color. Some where dull green. I wonder if the red ones where toro machines?

I haven't a clue if the red ones were Toro.
I've looked and called around, only to arrive at dead ends. Of course the ones that would know, are probley retired.

I have a devere 30 inch cut mower deck with 3 wheels, It has rear chain drive and a wis. 9 HP. on the back. and its yellow. bought it used in 1957. It just won't wear out, I think it would still run.
