A friend of mine has restored a unique garden tractor and is looking for information about it.It is a STANDARD TWIN Tractor No. 406C8449 with the engine Manufactured by STANDARD ENGINE CO. Minneapolis, Minnesota. The unit is similar in design to a Gravely and is 1935-45 vintage(guestimate). You sit at the rear and have 2 foot pedals to assist in guiding the 2 rear wheels. They can be locked so as not to swivel also. The drive wheels have 7.50-18 Firestone tractor tread tires. The engine is a 2 cylinder vertical twin with the exhaust manifold joining the cylinders and aiming up and frontward. The engine block is cast iron and has a removable oil pan. Crank start and gear drive magneto. The clutch appears to have a common connection to engine oil.Transmission has 2 forward and 1 reverse plus neutral selections. All controls are located on the handlebars, convenient to the operator. The drive wheels have individual brakes. The machine is equipped with cultivator bar and also has a 1 bottom plow. The color of the engine and frame are dark blue and the cultivation equipment bright red.If you have any information, leave me a message. It would be very much appreciated to get some facts about this facinating machine

I see these often around here. I know of at least 6 close by. They made a 1 cylinder model too. Most i see have steel wheels. It's listed in my 1946 book, what do you want to know?
