On left side of tractor below the radiator and above the frame rail is a slab of iron that looks like a spacer plate.you will probably have to wire brush it but there is a # stamped there.It will be 3-####.Those 4 #s will be your ser#(3 on early tractors).Advise me of that # and Ill try and help determine your year.Doug A

Rod,your tractor is a late 1949 (first year) or an early 1950.Does it have an underhood air cleaner or is there a hole in the hood for a air snorkel.Also early Sheppards had a band type brake instead of dic brakes.Advise me of these 2 differences to narrow it dowm some more.All Sheppard ser. # ended in 5 or 0 as they wanted their competitors to think they were selling lots of tractors by issuing ser. # in increments of 5. Doug this tractor has the air cleaner through the hood and has band brakes not the disc type. Thanks Tractor Rod
