JD: Are you looking for info. on new Marshalls or old Marshalls? The old single cylinder diesels are a favourite with the antique crowd in the UK. The new ones are the remains of the Leyland tractors and the last I heard they are now powered by Perkins and are part of the Bentall Simplex Industrial Group in the UK.(Or they were in 1993). That's the last info I have on them. Go to the Case and David Brown page on this site and leave a message for Sam Kennedy with your question. He's a David Brown fan but he is in Ireland and maybe he could find out something for you. Tom

You have commented about "Bentall Simplex". Have you got any information about the company? because we own a "Round Mobile Batch Grain Dryer"

TOM, thanks for the info, I will follow up on it. A friend of mine has located an old Marshall series 2, single cylinder diesel here in TN and is interested in buying it but knows nothing about them so any info would be helpful. I wonder did the company export to the U.S. or did this one come alone. Thanks again. JD

JD. Marshall tractors go back to 1914, built by the Britania Iron Works, after the 2nd world war they were known as Field Marshalls, the series 2 was the first of the tractors after the war, it was similar to the model M of 1935. They were single cylinder and had to be started with smouldering ignition paper and a special explosive cartridge. They are a similar type to the Lanz Bulldog tractors of Germany. Bob
