I have a gilson yard tractor. I was cutting with it and it stalled out. When I restarted it the engine runs just fine but when you release the clutch the engine stalls out. Any kind of help would be appreciated. No one wants to work on Gilson tractors anymore.

I have a Gilson and it has a Briggs and Straton motor on it. Most any small motor shop can help with a Briggs. Sounds like I would suspect carb. trouble. Probably a little dirt. When it is running, try turning the main jet adjustment(this one is at the bottom of the carburetor) counter clockwise 1/2 turn, then back, then clockwise 1/2 turn then back to the start position agin. These adjustment screws on these motors can vibrate out of adjustment so after it is warmed up, open the throttle and Slooowly turn the main jet adjustment screw at the bottom of the carb until it runs the best. Remember how far you have turned it so in the worst case you can always return it to the original setting. If I can be of any help, write.

I am working on an 18hp Briggs and Stratton on a Gilson Lawn tractor. The deck drive clutch ia failing and Im not sure how to find another. Also i am not getting fire to the sparkplugs.

Please advise if some major manufacturer might be using a Gilson platform ( ie who bought Gilson ) who might be using compatable parts.

Thanks

Bart
