I recently bought an older magna trac crawler , and having troubles keeping the track on . I found out the front axle was bent and replaced that , and the bushings in the front sprockets are loose . Probably will be replacing them in the next day or two . I have called the factory and they seem to think its a MD 1200 , theyre sending a parts list and pics to help ID it .
Orignally it was supposed to have been a 7 hp , someone changed it over to an 8 hp . How tight should the tracks be ? If you have info on them or implements I'd like to hear about it .

Hello Ivan, I have an MD1600 with the 16hp engine a blade and the bucket. I've had the machine for a number of years now and I also had a lot of trouble with the tracks and my answer was to install a (3rd) axle and to tighten the track chain (mine is very worn and loose) so I purchased an axle (2) follower track sprockets and numerous grade 8 bolts. I took and bored the frame aligned the sprockets with shims all from Struck Corp. Ph# 1-262-377-7211 and punched out about half of the pins in the track chain and replaced them with the grade 8's with washers and lock nuts and for the most part as long as you don't try a spin turn the tracks stay on much much better.

sincerely, Jerry Ames

Jerry , the sprockets , are they a regular idler or did they send the front sprockets ? It sounds like what I've been considering . Just havent decided on how to go about it . Also since it came with a home made blade I'm considering building a neew one with a frame that looks like a full size dozer complete with angle blade . I have most of the details worked out , just gotta get around the track issue . Cant figgure out how they got it on my trailer without the tracks falling off . I was there but wow , a bent axle, bearings shot ..... Do you have any photos of your machine showing the conversion ? Ivan
