It is the cutest thing I have run across. My wife God Bless her is as interested in tractors as I am. We went to a tractor show in Republic, Mo. this year where a man had a small tractor in a trailer for sale. He said he was going to be there all three days of the show and wanted to auction the tractor off. There were several men there looking at it when my wife spotted it. She walked up and looked at it, she reached in turned the fly wheel to make sure it wasn't stuck and then asked how much.

The guy told her about the auction going on, (Mind you this tractor was on 4 flats, and needs a complete rebuild.) She said what is the top bid right now? He said $250.00. My wife said $400.00 turned around looked at everyone there and said gentlemen that tractor is going home with me, she smiled real pretty and walked off.

Needless to say three days later we left with it, $800.00 poorer. I'm not complaining mind you but I need help finding out about it. What I have found out is that it was made in Portland Oregon at the Vaughn Motor Company. It is a 1935 and came out just befor the company started making a track version of the little tractor. I have found out that the company was well known for the manufacturing of the big commercial chainsaws used in big timber country. Any information you can give me would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Don

I have the trac version of this tractor (walk behind) made by the vaughn motor co. Portland, Ore. I need a manual, mag. and carb. I am assuming that mine is a 1938 from what I've been able to find out. Any and all help will be appreciated. Ira.

All of the Vaughans were on tracks. They started making them in the early twenties. Don I have sent you a email also. Steve Johnson

Don,There is a club on the YAHOO club website called TRACKLAYINGGARDENTRACTORS. I tried to cut and paste the adress, but couldn't get it to work - anyway, join the club and get in touch with Ernie (see the picture section under Ernie's Portland tractors). Ernie has a bunch of those little rascals (as well as some of the other members) It doesn't cost anything to join the club and you don't get a bunch of junk mail or anything, so there is no real downside
Good luck

I saw an ad for one years ago and i thought there was no way the tracks would work. I wonder if someone converted it to wheels?

From what we can find out the tired version preceeded the trac version. The Flex Tread was made between 1930 and 1934. The Flex Trac hit the market in 1935 we assume because it was easier to get along in the forest areas. We could be wrong we are only guessing.
