Picked up a 1939? tractor sold by Montgomery Ward,(has Montgomery Ward Serial Plate), but its an Avery A, but with no starter or lights, and one book calls it "General" My question is, what is color scheme? Probably can't get M-W decals (I see reminants of M-W one on gas tank) so will use Avery It look like red with some white or light yellow trim. Thanks for any advice Irv Plitzuweit

Hi Irv: If indeed it is a " General " it is very rare and valuable. There were only 300 made in its only year of production. This occured after Cletrac bought Avery. D.C.Dale

No, Cletrac didn't own Avery. The "General" was built by Cletrac for Massey Harris. MH only took 300, then backed out of the deal. Avery took the rest of them and they were sold through Wards.
