I'm thinking about buying a 1943 Avery Model A with single front wheel. Runs very good, tires good, needs paint. Asking price is $850. How does this sound to the Avery Collectors? Sounds cheap to me but up to this point I've been a John Deere Man. Thanks for any advice.

Tractor prices are a funny thing. There is no real standard to compare to. Seems to depend on the tractor, the model, the area of the country, and all sorts of other things. When I see ads on the YT forum, I (up here in Canada) think things are pretty expensive down in the states, especially when something advertised down there for $800 will cost me a bit more than $1200 Canadian. Personally, I'd pay pretty close to $800 US for a nice little Avery A. Up here they're as rare as hens teeth. I was lucky enough to have an Avery A (1945) given to me by my friend's family in '99, but it isn't running and needs a total going over. Meanwhile, if you look at the tractor prices forum on this YT site, the prices seem very low that those owners have posted. Sometimes I think that they are guys who got a great deal, they know it, and they let all the rest of us poor slobs wish it was us. Check it out, you'll see what I mean.
