I am in need of a steering gearbox for my 1977 Economy Power King Tractor. I have found two individuals that have told me that new gearboxes were available (including the steering column) for approximately $500.00 ! I would hope that a good used one is available. If anyone has a good used steering column please contact me @ 540/ 382-7020

ROD:MY FATHER HAS AN ECONOMY TRACTOR.IT'S A 1973W/A TILLER,MOWER DECK,BACK BLADE,AND A SINGLE BOTTOM PLOW. THE COMPANY NAME WAS CHANGED TO "POWER KING"IN THE LATE 70s OR EARLY 80s.THE NEWER TRACTORS LOOK MORE LIKE CONVENTIONAL LAWN/GARDEN TRACTORS.I'M NOT SURE IF THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS.I USED TO SEE ADDS IN THE BACK OF MAGAZINES LIKE "MECHANICS ILLUSTRATED" AND "POPULAR MECHANICS". IN ALMOST 30 YEARS THE ONLY PROBLEMS MY FATHER HAS HAD IS ONE STARTER AND TWO BATTERYS.

GOOD LUCK MIKE

Hey John,
I have a 1968 Power King that is still running well and I just finished mowing my lawns and small field today.
I have had electrical problems over these many years, but they have all been easily fixed. I suggest you look in this order:
1. the key switch (if you haven't already changed it.)

2. the wires, all.

3. The plug which I am sure you have changed, but also the wires. This is a a breakdown spot.

4. The condenser which I have replaced 4 times over the years.

5. The coil.

If all these are working it probably not electrical.

Let me know.
