I'm not making this up. any of you guys ever heard of a tractor made in the 30's named Doodle Bug. Six cylinder. i have not seen the tractor but can only guess that it might be a dodge parts based tractor like a love, friday or custom. Thanks for any info you might have.

In my childhood back in northern Wisconsin (early forties) local farmers would cobble together makeshift tractors or off-road runabouts from whatever old cars or trucks available. They were often called doodle bugs (perhaps doodlebugs) as I don't recall seeing anything in print. I remember two of my older cousins having one on my uncle's farm near Superior.

my neighbor in Idaho has one. We all thought it was just a nickname for his tractor. My older sister saw one Washington state once. I'm not sure if they are old dodge parts. I remember it is an odd looking thing and was trying to find a picture of it.

Great tractor. Its been running for over 60 years.

Doodle bug MAY have been a brand name, but the term is most often used to describe a home-made unit made from a cut-down car. Just the rad/engine/trans/ and rear with some sort of seat. When I was growing up (a long time ago!!) the father of a friend had one he made from a Dodge. It had two trannies back to back so when he put both in reverse, he had one really stump pulling low gear forward!!!
