I just bought a satoh 650G and we are having a hard time getting enough oil pressure out of it. The manual specifies 53psi constant pressure. We have check the oil pump and crank and they both meet factory tolerances. Is this a common problem?

The tractor has a dummy light, but when the engine idles down to about 500 rpms the light comes on. So we took out the dummy light sending unit and put a gauge in the hole. Thanks for the information!!

THE BOOK SAYS IDLE SHOULD BE AT OR JUST ABOVE 700 RPM. COULD THIS BE YOUR PROBLEM ?

We found the problem. At the front of the engine there is a small pipe that sticks out near the timing chain that lubricates the chain. Evidently the tensioner was not working and the chain caught the pipe and tore it out of the block, causing oil to flow very fast, not building up any pressure. We made a new pipe and it holds great oil pressure now. Thanks for the information.
