I am looking for information on how I might get an exhaust manifold for my Custom tractor. I has a 6 cylinder Chrysler Industrial engine. On the serial plate it reads IND-5A-210 41402. Might this be the same engine that Massey Harris 101 used. I thought theirs were 201 cubic inch or 217.
Does the 210 on the plate mean it is a 210 Cubic inch? Any informaton appreciated.

Maybe the information I am posting is not really a response to your exact question, but the manifolds from Dodge or Plymouth 6 cylinder engines up through the 1959 model year will fit. By 1959 displacement was 230 cubic inches, but the gaskets sets interchange as do the manifolds. In addition, these basic engines were used in lots of equipment. Had a 1951 Yale forklift with one of them on propane. Welding outlet in another location is not difficult. Use arc welder and non-machineable cast iron rod. Weld deposit can be ground smooth. Once I put 3 carbs and dual exhaust on 1955 Dodge pickup this way.

Got a manifold from a 55 plymouth flat head six. Exhuaust in in a different position, but with a little work it should fix. Working on it today. Will let you know how it all works out. Thanks for all the help. IRV

The 5A engine is a 217.7 cu in engine. The manifold you need, needs to be for a down draft carb. The Masseys used an up draft carb. Also the exhaust came out the top side at the front on almost all of them.

The 5A engine is a 217. It should have a bore of 3 1/4 and a stroke of 4 3/8. The 6A was the 230 and the 8A was the 251. Manifolds are hard to find. I made one out of a Dodge truck manifold. That's all the company did. I made a split mainfold for mine. The truck manifolds were made a lot later and are in better shape. Good luck.

My 1946 book shows a ind-5(112) that has 217ci.The ind-5A might be a later version.Apparently the number after the first one is not the ci, none of the other crysler engines match either.

Irv,The MH 101 also used a Chrysler of 201 cubic inch where the 101 Super used a 217 cubic inch engine. I would geuss that the manifolds were the same on either one. They are more common then the customs so you may have better luck hunting for one for a Massey Harris. Jonathan (JJK Tractor Salvage)

I believe the custom manifold exited out the side of the manifold , and the MH Super exited out the rad. end and up. But it will bolt up!!! Don L.
