We aquired what we think is a Co-op E-3 but are unable to find any serial#. There is nothing stamped in the frame nor is there any plate. It has a 4 cylinder Buda engine and Made in Canada stamped on the trans case. Is there any way a person can identify it?

Paul I spoke with Gary Bader a long time Cockshutt
collector and is on the board of the International Cockshutt Club. He came up with a couple good answers for you. First he said a lot of the front frame "tubs" cracked and were replaced with new units that would not have had a serial number on them. The dealer that replaced them should have stamped the number on the new tubs but this didn't always happen. Second,he said its very posible your tractor may have started life as a red Cockshutt and was repainted before it left the factory in Co-op orange. This would have been done if they needed to get out an order of Co-ops in a hurry. Gary said you really
could make your tractor into any of the three variations Co-op E-3,Cockshutt 30,or Gambles Farmcrest 30. Good luck!!

Paul the serial number should be stamped in the top of the left frame rail next to the engine. The nose strip on the tractor would also say Co-op instead of Cockshutt. The problem is Cockshutt
never kept seperate records for the Cockshutt 30,
Co-op or Gambles Farmcrest 30 so even with the
serial number it may be hard to tell what variation you have. If you can tell what color it was I may be able to help you some more, let me know!!

Brent,
We have scraped all the paint off the top left side of frame where the serial # is usually found but are unable to locate anything. The nose cone is gone so that doesn't really help. We have taken off some of the orange paint that it was repainted with and it looks like red paint underneath, especially on the cast parts. Underneath the belly there is a tag that has 9-3 on it. Doesn't that mean anything?

Wow Paul that doesn't leave me with much. The orange paint you spoke of makes me want to say its a Co-op. On the other hand the red paint you are finding sounds like a Cockshutt. Since both tractors would have came from the same factory I would think the Co-op tactors would have been orange and not just a repainted and rebadged Cockshutt. I will try to call a friend of mine that owns several Cockshutts to see if he can help us out and I will get back with you.
