I recently inherited a medium sized tractor that the former owner says is an english tractor called Newfield. It appears to be late 60s to early 70s in style. I wish to restore this tractor to running condition but can find no refrences to the make. It had to be commercialy imported as it is in a field in oklahoma. It is a three cylinder diesel. I do not know how to post a picture to this bullittin board but can to e-mail. I would appreciate any help identifying this or finding a source for parts and information.

It's Nuffield. The smaller tractors were ethier the 4/16, 154,or 4/25.

My Dad had a Nuffield - bo't it from a "short-line" farm implement dealership in Yorkton, Sask around '53. His had a 4 cylinder Perkins Diesel. It was a very powerful little tractor - pulled an 8' Minneapolis one-way which was a good load for the John Deere Model GW he owned previously. His Nuffield was very economical, so much so that Dad would often forget to refuel it, and consequently he'd run out of fuel quite often.

The little Nuffield of that era was built by the same factory in England that built Morris cars I believe. It was also available with a gasoline engine which had a very unique little "shock absorber" device on the throttle valve in the carb that prevented one from revving up the engine too quickly - a fuel saving device. Even if one would yank the throttle lever wide open, the engine would speed up gently.

As far as I know, very few of these little tractors are still in existence.

There is a discussion boasrd set up by Anglo-American Parts. They are direct importers for parts and manuals for BMC,Nuffield,Leyland,Marshall,JWD. All of these names are just the progression through the years for basically the same tractor as it evolved. There is a link on the board for the parts site.
