Hi,

Well, I suppose anything is possible but I wouldn't recommend it. About the closest DIY arrangement that I would consider safe is:

1. Buy a commercial face piece (full face style recommended) that is intended for continuous flow operation.
2. Buy a portable, oil-free, tankless air compressor that is capable of at least 4 cfm at 10 psig.
3. Mate the above two items up with clean 3/8" air hose.

That's what I did years ago when there were no "affordable" commercial systems available. Nowadays, with the Hobbyair units at a reasonable price ($400 or so), you will likely wind up paying as much if not more trying to assemble a safe unit from pieces noted above. The thing I like about mine is that the 3/8" supply hose is easier to drag around than the larger hose that the Hobbyair uses and the air is never hot. However, complete commercial units like my arrangement now run about $800 minimum.

Someone on this forum a while ago mentioned a unit that is sold on ebay that is similar to the turbine-style Hobbyair for what seemed a decent price. I don't have a link handy but if you search ebay, you will likely find it.
