I finally got the old To 35 painted over the weekend. It warmed up to about 50 degrees outside so I taped up the doors and windows into the house so no smell would get in. It actually worked very well. I turned the heat up high for a few minutes to warm everything up. I raised the garage door about a foot and placed furnace filters across the bottom. I turned on an oscillating fan near the back door of the house to keep the fumes out, turned off the heat and let her rip. I used the HVLP gun for the first time and I was very impressed. There was no overspray in the air. It settled to the floor immediately. The pressure settings are a little tricky until you get used to it. I used the Nason paint recommended on this site. It worked OK but it looks a little thin. I am not worried about pits and imperfections in the metal so I did not build the primer. I used about 1/2 quart of primer and one whole quart of paint on the tractor and all small parts. I am going back to the paint store today to get another quart of green and I am going to give everything one more coat. I am wondering if it would help to back off of the reducer so the paint will thicken a little bit better. Seems as I recall that the recipe called for 4 parts of paint, one part accellerator and two parts reducer. Overall, for an old dummy like me, the paint turned out pretty good if I must say so myself. I won't be taking it to shows but I won't be embarrassed to bring her out on the farm during daylight hours either. I want to extend special thanks to all who held my hand as I got wobbly kneed approaching this project. This site is an invaluable tool for dummies like me. You all made me look good! Now if I could just find a hood for the old girl!!!!!
