I got a Devilbiss suction-type paint gun with a valve on the top of the can and it drips when I paint upside down. Will is matter if I leave it closed all the time? The instructions are confusing. Will the sandwich bag work for a gun like this? Thanks in advance.

Lucas, you didn't say what model or how old the gun is, my guess would be that valve is to close the cup off from outside air so you can use the gun as a pressure fed gun for heavier paints.
~If it is & you close that valve you will have loads of paint flowing out & it will be hard to put the paint on smooth & even.
~As for the drips, I usually just take an old stretch sock & cut the foot part off of it then stretch the sock top over the cup & up the gun a ways to catch any spillage from the cup gasket & vent hole.

I think the valve is to release pressure in the cup.

Lucas, if there is pressure in the cup you are using it in the pressure feed mode & it shouldn't have any holes open to leak. The air vent valve should be left open for the gun to work in the suction feed mode used for regular painting, you don't want the vent closed or pressure in the cup for suction/siphon feed operation.
