Guys: Thanks for all your input on my previous post regarding the use of this type system. One last question. I see the 1/2 mask, full mask, and hooded type are available. Any recommendations before I order would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Mark,

I agree with Bill. You need to protect your eyes, so a full face mask is far preferable to a half mask for isos. However, before you purchase, if you have to wear eyeglasses to spray, make absolutely sure that the full facepiece you are considering can be used with glasses. As far as I know, most cannot - I know the one have can't. I have seen an "eyeglass kit" for a full facepiece in the past. It was unique to that particular brand of facepiece and cost about $75 extra as I recall. Plus, you would have to have prescription lenses fit to the special frames in the kit as well. That can add additional expense fast. If you are in that category you may want to consider a hood instead. I have never used a hood but I am assuming you can wear eyeglasses under it. CNKS probably can confirm that, since he uses one.

I can wear glasses and a charcoal mask under my hood -- gets a little crowded. I sometimes use the mask so that I can remove the hood and still have some protection mixing paint outside the booth. Not as bad as it sounds, because with my paint booth, little if any active fumes get outside the booth.

If you are getting a Hobby Air, Autobodystore.com has a hood with the supply tube down the back, thus it is not in the way all the time. Works ok. You will need good ventilation, as the overspray quickly kills the tearoff -- Be sure to get a lot of tearoffs, you will need them.

Full face as the bad stuff can be absorbed by the eyes
