I'm gettin ready to start in on a '47 Farmall BN. My uncle had a tech school shop rebuild and repaint it about twenty years ago. I think their surface prep was lacking, as the sheet metal especially is back to rust. Except for a couple of trouble spots, like under where the battery box once was, the iron is not in too bad a shape. It's a family piece so I want to get it right. The rims and wheels need to be taken down, as well as all the sheet metal. I'm reading that 50-60 mesh leaves things glossy. Does that mean too smooth to prime and paint? Up around 100-120 is listed as more aggressivre at removal but leaves a matte finish. Sounds to me better for priming. Your thoughts? Is the finer stuff aggressive enough to remove metal? I need to avoid that at all costs. I'm expecting to buy whatever is needed of any or several mesh sizes to get things right. Any guidance will be sincerely appreciated. Scotty
