Has anyone seen or used the gun that Sear's sells for powder coating parts/etc.? I read about it in a magazine and was thinking that this would be handy to have to shoot over some items. It seems that tire rims where they are all rusted out could be cleaned and have this sprayed on would give a little extra protection with a coat of paint, rather than just primer and a top coat or Aluminum paint by itself. Haven't bought one yet, just wanting to know what opinions others may have on it.

One thing you may not know about powder coating is that it has to be baked. So unless you have an oven or infrared curing system big enough for the parts you want to do, you may as well forget it.
That is why everyone doesn't do it in their garage. You could use an old range (don't use the one in your kitchen) to do small parts. Rims are a good thing to powder coat but you will probably have to have them done by a pro.

Go to www.eastwood.com They have a lot of info on home powdercoat systems.
