I found something that works very well and thought I'd pass it on. A 3" Weiler Vortec Pro knot wire cup brush Item no. 36038, about $15. Put this on a little 4-1/2" electric angle grinder and the paint just comes off. I got mine at HF, I thought this is kinda spendy for this place. I went thru one of the HF brand fine wire cups in just about an hour and thought I better try somethin' a little better and this knot wire cup looks as though I'll get thru the restoration with it. I'm cleaning on the front axle assembly and front wheels on a Ford 4000 restoration. I know a few of you guys already know about these wire cups but I just found out. bjr

NAPA sells a 2-3/4" knotted cup brush for 4-1/2" grinders that sells for around
$5. I have been using them for years and they seem to hold up real well.

They make a large and a small cup brush that will fit your angle grinder. I found both of them to be very helpful. I wore out two fine wire brushes before I bough one of those. Watch out though. If you really get after it, the brush can take off metal or distort thin metal with heat. Be sure to keep the handle on the grinder. That brush will take the hide off of your fingers in a hurry.
