I had been using PPG's Omni line of urethane (Persian Orange) on my Allis WC. I ran short so I had a qt of extra paint mixed up. The problem is that when I got home, I realized that I had the guy mix up acrylic enamel. What is the difference between the two types? If I use the acrylic, will it match with the urethane (separate parts, same tractor)? Does the acrylic have a different dry time. Is durabiltiy different after it is dry (with hardner)? Is the quality better or worse than urethane? Does it have a different sheen? I can't take the paint back but I don't want to use it if it won't match the urethane. Thank you for your input.

If you told him to mix urethane and got back enamel, he should take it back. Same thing happened to me, but I gave the instructions in writing, he had no choice. The colors should be close, but may not be perfect. It might not match on the sheet metal, but for cast parts you probably will be hard pressed to notice the difference except in exactly the right light. Durability, a few years from now you may notice the difference, dry times are similar, you can check the spec sheets in the link. On cast you probably won't notice the difference in sheen as cast varies within a couple of inches anyway -- Again on sheet metal you might. If you use it be sure to get the AE hardner.

Urethane is more durable than acrylic. Ideally, they should match, but may not.
