i used ppg automotive polyurethane clear might have been # 2001 ,but have also used 2042 speed clear ,and urethane clear .i basically used what my boss at the body shop gave me. our district ppg rep said to put it on wet-on- wet. spray the enamel (your base coat) ,with hardenr .let it tack off good then clear.i did the 5088 when it was 100+ degrees in the shop and i think that helped my sucess .i dont try to use clear when it is not real warm and dry .it can get blushed if it is humid.i have about quit doing tractors for coustomers ,i wont experment on a paying job. but i have enough equipment that i can experment .i also did my 504 with clear.and a track plow .somthing else i really like is ppg polyurethane industrial enamel. #300 .it is good for equipment and not too high $ .

See the link -- apparently 201 is a hardener, used in a 15(200):1(201). Alk is near the top of the page. 200 is an acrylic modified alkyd enamel, perhaps similar to IH 2150. PPG considers it an industrial paint.

I suppose anything is possible, but I don't think it is recommended. Usually at the minimum you can clear single stage acrylic urethane, using iso containing hardener in both the color and clear coats. There are also "inexpensive" base coat clear coat systems. Someone who has actually clear coated alkyd enamel may wish to comment, but from what little I know, the answer is no.
