Iam ready to get a completely disassembed tractor blasted with coal slag. It's been a few years since I painted the last one. Any advice on the steps from bare metal to top coat would help. This is going to be a show not a work tractor. There seems to be alot different paint types now, any suggestion would be helpful. I bought the Hobby air system with the hood so I can paint safely

Since you got the air system,I'd go urethane.. I'd go epoxy primer on the bare metal, then do any needed bodywork, followed by surfacer and hand sanding to get it smooth, then about 3 coats of urethane..I like the dupont nason line, but lots seem to like the PPG as well..

the simplified version :)
