Hi all, I saw an add sometime ago on the internet for a product that you can spray on ,or brush on, I guess that stops rust from progressing. I was just looking at my old Toyota P/U frame and thought it could use that treatment. I cannot remember the product. Can anyone advise me on some thing that works well like that? Thanks Jim W

POR-15 is supposed to stop and encapsulate rust. I recently used it for the first time on the frame of my 1956 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup after it was recommended by several friends who do lots of auto body work. It went on fine with a foam brush (or actually several dozen foam brushes!) after I wire-wheeled the majority of the rust off. So far so good--the finished job looks great, and two coats on the whole frame and a bunch of other bits and pieces took less than a quart. Service from POR was excellent--only a couple of days to get the product and their phone people seemed to know their stuff. I'll let you know in 30 years how it holds up, but based on my auto-body sources it seems to actually get harder with age--they've all had horror stories of what a bear it was to get off an old coat of POR when stripping down a car or truck that had been done years before.

I think you are thinking of POR-15 paint. It is really good stuff and works good to seal off rust. Go to the Por-store on the internet and read about it. Good stuff, I have used the manifold grey and the black. Both worked excellant.

I've used a product from Eastwood Company and found it to work pretty well with minimal prep time.
