Can it be done?

Rustoleum has come out with a "Plastic Primer" that is supposed to adhere to plastic, then any kind of enamel color coat can be used. Anybody know if this stuff works?

I have a 24HP Honda conversion Kit that I'm about to install into an Allis Chalmers garden tractor. The fan shroud is made of plastic - and is RED! I think Red looks terrible with Orange. I'm considering painting the fan shroud orange to match.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy for considering this? Can it be done? Should I just live with the Red/Orange contrast and be happy with the new motor?

Any feedback / advice is welcome...

Good Day!

painting plastic can be tricky because the chemical used to spray the OEM mold with to help the plastic release become im pregnatedd into the part and must be removed prior to painting. There are a series of steps to remove this, body shops go through this every day, clean the part with soap and water, heat the part either with heat lamps or out in the hot sun to drive the mold release agent to the surface, clean the part with a plastic parts cleaner, DuPonts is 2310S, then you can use a plastic primer and paint. the obvious isue is to get the mold release agent off if you do not the new paint will peel.
