I have an external mix siphon feed gun. It says i can run it from 25psi to 50psi. Do I want to try to run it as high as i can or as low as i can?

Hi Andrew,

I am assuming it's an older, non-HVLP gun. Most automotive enamels, if reduced per the manufacturer's instructions are applied at between 40 and 60 psig at the gun inlet when using a non-HVLP gun. If you are using an automotive paint, the recommended gun pressure should be indicated in the technical data sheet for that specific paint. If not, you may have to try several different pressures to see what might give you the best atomization. I'd start out at 40 psig and go from there, using this as a guide to obtaining correct atomization. It's from DeVilbiss but is generic enough to be quite useful.
