I do not want to spend my money on a professional paint job. I just want to get my tractor painted without wasting alot of money. I was just wondering if it is that bad to buy primer and paint in spray cans and apply paint that way. Does it provide bad results or is this acceptable? Any help is appreciated.

I would not recommend it, as I have done this before. Although the paint will stick just fine, it is going to dull and fade over time, even if you use OEM paint. I use paint applied in a spray gun along with hardener. (hardener will prevent fading). If it is budget you're concerned about and you pretty much just want to "brighten up" your tractor, you can purchase cheap spray guns (around $20 apiece). Aftermarket paint also sells for arouns $17-$18/gallon. I use Farm & Fleet Heavy Duty Implement Enamel and it works great. Van Sickle is another good one.

It's been done, some people have even been satisfied. I have no desire to try it.
