Spray a little thinner through and wipe out the cup. Loosen the air cap until it almost falls off, and reduce the pressure at the gun to less than 10 lbs. Add more thinner. When you pull the trigger you will then be backflushing the gun, some people call this "perking". The reverse flow of the air will cause the thinner/reducer to bubble up into the cup, so keep your head/eyes out of the way--this is the reason for reducing the pressure. At normal spray pressure you will have thinner all over the place. Alternate perking and spraying the thinner out (by tightening the cap) until the perked thinner is clean. This will remove anything stuck in the gun that you don't know about.
