My shop is small. Have a little 3HP, oil type compressor, 25 gallon tank. I have read that you really need 20' or so of hard line to cool air in front of the paint regulator/ filter.

I guess auto paints really need dry air supply.

Should I just run a loop of 1/2" copper on the wall, use drops at ends to collect water, etc.

Thanks all, great forum.

Rod gave you a good answer below. But, if you want a long run, why don't you run the pipe around your work area? Even if it is as small as 15 by 15, that gives you 60 feet of pipe, 20 by 20, 80 feet. If you don't want your outlet near your compressor, use 3 walls for 45 ft, etc. 20 feet may be enough, but the more the better. Use 3/4 inch pipe to minimize pressure drop, as some guns need a lot of air.
