Hoods?

How do you guys work out small dents and dings in old tractor hoods? Usually you can't get behind them with the hood on the tractor and when I take it off, it wiggles and flops around like a kid that doesn't want to take medicine. There is no back up when I try to work out a dent with the hood off and the dent doesn't want to come out because the whole hood moves when I hit it. Picture a guy chasing a hood around a shop with a hammer - that's me.

Remember to go slow and try not to move the metal with one big smack -several 'taps' in the right spot should do nicely.

Tie that hood up to your hitchin post so it can't get away then use a body dolly or something ( I got a lead ingot I use) that wont leave other marks you have to deal with.Hold the dolly on the side you want the metal to go then use your hammer to peck the dent out to where you want it. For small dents I just use two hammers. For kinks start with the last place that bent and work your way to the point of impact.
