I am currently painting a 450 farmall. What color primer should I use?? When I sanded the tractor down I noticed it looked like it had a red primer. Should I go back with this color?? Also will using a white or black primer change the shade of the paint?? Thanks in advance D dude

use IH gray primer if you are using IH#2150 red paint. If you use the IH red primer the paint will turn orange after a while

I use an industrial epoxy primer that I get from Mautz paints does very good job I use the gray when it is dry I use a scotch brite and go over it very lite just to knock off any roughness.

use an epoxy 2 part primer. It not only seals the surface from previous paint bleed through, it will fill and give you a smooth surface to apply finish paint too. It sands hard because it is hard. Sand with some 400 wet paper and you'll have a great surface to paint onto providing you preped the metal good.

Use the primer product that is recommended for the type finish paint you are using.
