Would the hole fall on a flat,or relativly flat spot? If so, a knock-out punch might be just what you need. No heat and no shavings....

You've probably by now come to the conclusion that you should have done this BEFORE you finished and painted it.First of all, cover the area with a GOOD quallity 2" tape. Then use a compass to lay out the outside edge of the hole.Use a hole saw of at least 1" dia. and drill as many holes as you can, ajoining each other.STAY back from your line at least 1/8".Then to finish it out to the final diameter use a die-grinder with a fine rotary file in it.Go slow and easy here. You don't want to create a lot of heat that burns the paint.Touch up the bare edge with a GOOD primer and paint.I hope you have a plan in mind to positively locate this hole as to be centered around the pipe! Good Luck. (forgot, when you peel off the tape, peel it from the farthest point from the hole, towards the hole and slow and carefull not to lift up on the tape at the hole edge)

well I got it cut in I used a short pipe in the manifold and took a marker and outlined the pipe on the hood found the center, drilled a small hole, transfered the circle with a compass to the outside, lined up a three inch hole saw and their it was a perfectly lined up round hole in a curve, it turned out really nice thanks for input
