i want to start painting some of my old tractors and i need some help where to begin. i am looking for some advice on what paint gun and sand blaster to buy. since i dont have much money, i was looking at some of the harbor frieght items. $40-$70 for a sand blaster, & $30-$70 for a paint gun. i already have a 60 gal upright compresser. i would need regulator, filters, paint gun, & blaster. also where to find a good book/video on painting, preping, & mixing paints/hardeners. whats your guys advice on what to,& what not to buy...thanks

If you're going to use any of the paints with hardeners you need to have a supplied air system.
You do not want to breathe any of that paint. Some are on ebay for sale. You should have a HVLP
spray gun too. Hal

You might read through the archives of this forum because a lot of what you are asking has been discussed. I have painted many a car, tractor, or piece of machinery with a small portable 4 or 5 hp compressor outside. I even painted an old 51 chev pickup several years ago in the back yard when I lived in Nashville, TN, that was purchased by Tom T. Hall. After reading the archives you will know better what specific questions to ask. As you can see there are folks on this forum with a lot of knowlege.

WH, there are 16 pages of messages in this Paint and Bodywork Forum. If you read through these pages, they will answer most of your questions. There are discussions on gun types, nozzels, paint types, primers, surfacers, safety issues, electrolysis, sand blasting, etc, etc. It is a gold mine of information and will save you a lot of time, money, and trouble!
